The survey for this project was carried out in two phases – the first phase between July and September 2017 was in Kolkata, Howrah, North 24 Parganas and Murshidabad districts while the second phase in October-November 2017 took place in South 24 Parganas, Purulia and Bankura districts. The project was completed in the previous year and a discussion was held with the LSE representatives in June in order to clarify certain points in the questionnaire and data collection.
