14 June 2011
Dr. Arun Roy of the Economic Information Technology, Kolkata spoke to the team about the importance of sample surveys in development work, but also on the technical and human flaws possible in the sampling system. Using his vast fieldwork experience in North-East India how to be a good researcher: how to familiarise oneself with local contexts, have informants from all local groups, interact with communities, question one's own assumptions, factoring in the possibilities of human error and using more than one analytical tool to analyse the data.

Dr. Roy was another of our advisers for the Chandrakanta Patil Memorial Eastern India Regional Health Assembly, and this meeting was the first of several meetings between him and the team.
